Module 5 Learning Objectives

  1. Describe travel, preferences, and nature by employing targeted expressions 

  2. Describe what you like and don’t like as related to travel and daily activities

  3. Identify weather features and seasons of the year 

  4. Describe your and others’ life activities that are actions in progress 

  5. Identify and explore the diversity and culture in Spanish-speaking world: Patagonia (i.e., Chile and Argentina) 

  6. Watch two promotional travel videos and express your likes and dislikes in six sentences using targeted language structures 

  7. Describe and compare the impact of tourism on national economies, the indigenous communities, and land conservation based on information presented in infographics, articles, and videos

  8. Create an attractive flyer in Spanish using the structures and vocabulary from the entire course

1) Informative "textbook" chapter 5 (grammar explanations and vocabulary lists)

2) Communication-forward chapter 5 activities for face-to-face & synchronous modes

3) Chapter 5 PowerPoint

4) ~50 rote exercises for chapter 5 grammar and vocabulary 

5) Chapter 5 final quiz

6) Chapter 5 Modified Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA). This assessment principally leverages the interpretive mode, although the presentational mode is also included. Tasks are based on authentic materials. Linguistic and cultural competences are assessed.
