Module 3 Learning Objectives

  1. Apply words for friends, family members, and pets to new contexts

  2. Describe yourself and others using physical and personality traits 

  3. Identify your and others’ life activities 

  4. Describe your and others’ emotions, locations, identities, and nationalities using “ser” and “estar”

  5. Express ownership using possessive adjectives 

  6. Complete a professions survey on a USA government website and then describe what having this profession would be like

  7. Compare your family and personal identity to the ones presented using information from infographics, videos, and articles

  8. Identify and explore the diversity and culture in Spanish-speaking world: Colombia 

  9. Evaluate the experiences of diverse Spanish-speaking groups, including immigrants and indigenous groups, who have faced discrimination both in historical and contemporary contexts

Course components for Module/Chapter 3

1) Informative "textbook" chapter 3 (grammar explanations and vocabulary lists)

2) Communication-forward chapter 3 activities for face-to-face & synchronous modes

3) Chapter 3 PowerPoint

4) ~50 rote exercises for chapter 3 grammar and vocabulary 

5) Chapter 3 final quiz

6) Chapter 3 Modified Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA). This assessment principally leverages the interpretive mode, although the presentational mode is also included. Tasks are based on authentic materials. Linguistic and cultural competences are assessed.
